I used to consider pavement’s relationship with Earth to be akin to a scar on skin. I continue to marvel at nature’s ability to heal itself from the damage humans inflict. This article recently refined my thinking. The push for better streets came in support of bicycles, of all things, not cars. Let the search for balance between the needs of people and the systems that support nature continue. (mbnov)
