I have soured on using cloud services for most things. Photos belong nearby — they should be at home, not some nebulous online place. Same goes for e-mail. I have begun the frightening process of configuring a private mail server. (mbnov)

@fgtech mailinabox.email can work; self–customisations are discouraged 🙃
@cn Thanks for the pointer! That one did come up on my radar so I’ll give it a closer look. Do you use it?
@fgtech yes. Although off–book; on a Raspberry Pi, with php enabled for most domains.
@cn Nice. I have a couple of old v1 pi’s with cycles to spare. Do you think one of them could handle Mail-in-a-Box or would it be better to run on a newer pi?
@fgtech 2B, or 3B probably best to start; I have an upgrade to a 2Gb 4B to do, when I get a round tuit 🙃
@cn Good tips. Thank you!
@fgtech install scripts will not work without modification 🔧🐒
@cn Thanks for the heads up. Is that because of differences between Raspbian and Ubuntu or is it something else?
@fgtech miab restricts itself to a particular Ubuntu release
@cn Got it. Thanks again!
